Well done! :thumleft:

I like the asymmetrical aspect to the United Worlds Protectorate designs. I envision their craft having a modular construction that is capable of many configurations.

Here are some of the alien faction ships

A Hargonnian Sogna Class Battleship

A Vindric 'Destroyer'...the designation is as close as it comes since the bugs dont have ship classes
that we know of.

Its buried in the egg behind the upper main cannon bulge. There are very few of the Galactic warship designs that have a exposed or semi-exposed bridge.

Do you intend to make blue prints of the ships in the future?

Thats a possibility. Being its all CAD, it would be simple to do. The closest that idea is getting right now is the Spacecraft Resouce Guide I have for the universe, but that isnt for public consumption yet.

A big change that we have change done is that we are not going to do the bugs right now. We feel that they are too much and the rest of the universe needs some fleshing out. Which is actually more than I had planned on to begin with. But since this is a joint effort of sorts, things changed.

LOL, its not !
That is one aspect of the universe that I have not wanted to touch. Seems like once I get into a project and even attempt the fluff or fiction it goes downhill. I do have backgrounds to a point for most of the factions & races and all the ship designs sketched out or drawn already. The CAD versions are just updates of those.

If this is the case, maybe people here would like to help...?

Nice looking pieces, great work on the blueprint.
I'd like to ask for a nice forward swept wing attack cruiser?

Wings ? In space ? Nah....I have a few designs like that but they are on atmospheric capable ships and the like.

Cross-sections ! Ewwwwwwwwwww... more than I want to put into these right now. Everything being posted is for the basic models needed to have them prototyped. Doing something like the cross-sections is more artsy than I want to go right now.

Yes indeed, most of my free time, before work, after work, lunch break has been going into it. And it all depends on how the final RP's come out. Once there, then its back to finish Dark Phoenix once and for all and to 'wave 2' of Galactic.

Update

Post by Rommel Twee »

Well since I last posted on progress, a few things have changed. The big one being the map
of the Galactic universe. Took it from a scattered spread to a spherical layout interconnected
with permanent warp-points and zones with-in zones. This gives more areas for the various factions
to interact with each other.

Started on the universe specific rules this last week. Trying to stay half-way generic to simplify
things as the base rules will be used in the ground combat portions also.

All of the first release capital ships have been modeled and will be sent to Shapeways tomorrow. I
think they look good so Im happy again with that.

Here is an attempt at a product card if I use blisters or it might just be slid into a 'baggie'

The following are the graphics that will be used on the website for the individual ships spec pages

Now this could be a great front cover for a rule book!
IMHO I think you can make the letters pop-out by making them 3D,
with shades and reflection of light from the grand explosion.

As for the insignia for the Specs cards, I think you can try and make
them pop by 3Ding them also for the looks of medals, I know that 3D studio has
that feature.

Awesome work!

Prototype updates

Post by Rommel Twee »

Received the first batch of prototypes from the folks at Shapeways. All in all
I am happy with the results. My only real worry would be that some of the detail
might be too "soft" Anyway, check out the pics, enjoy and shoot me some
constructive critisism

They look great from what i can make out of thrm, but being cut in bright white resin does not help matter's. Scale wise they look fine from what ive seen of other 6mm spaceships from GZG's and Brigader models... 8) zac

No, being snow white doesnt help any. I received the second part of the order today and I am going to try some RIT fabric dye on these. From what I am being told, it makes the detail pop.
One thing that came with the rest of the ships was the Mattock, all I can say is that Zac will be a slobberin'
