New Mech for The Society? **Updated Pictures of final piece*

Post by Mr Balk » Tue Dec 25, 2012 8:49 pm

Update:

Changes from various forms of feedback - Moved the CAV Voodoo right arm out with the addition of a composite washer. Then back filled pieces to make it look more like a rotating assemble plus added the back hose & vent plate. Kept the Black Lanner mount point but worked a Resculpted Sunder arm onto it. This gave it a bigger look and make it look more angular like the Voodoo arm. Added Resculpted Orion torso weapons to the tip of the Sunder arm to give even more of a look change. Finally, used plastic card stock to beef-up the armor plating on the legs to make it look lesst like a pair of Thanatos legs

This was my first pass for the A Challenge! To all kitbashers/scratchbuilders! on CBT (make a new assault based Jade Falcon Mech).

The Mech came together well but the wide big legs seemed to look more like something The Society would have developed during the Wars of Reaving. It kind of reminded me of a mix of a Septicemia (Pariah), Cephalus and Osteon designs. I have a second scrap Lao Hu so I am likely going to buy the parts to try this again in the future with a few tweeks.

Thoughts, feedback or additions/changes would be appreciated.

I love it. Some stats would be nice. :)

Good work as always Justin. But I would add some detail to the legs and try to make that left arm look less like a Clan Omni's arm.

If I go with The Society idea:

RA Large Improved Heavy Laser
Larger ER Pulse Laser
RT Targeting computer
RT Nova CEWS
LT LRM 20
LA 2 ER Medium Lasers

I am actually going back over the right arm to push it out more and spacing the left arm out slightly. On the left arm, I will nood over making it a litle more angular in apperance but note it is a Clan Mech. I will also add in some armor detailing to the legs more.

Did not know it was a clan mech.

No problem, your suggest on it looking to omni'ish was more than valid.

I am looking at changing it to still use the Black Lanner upper arm (for the mounting point to the body) and then attach a different looking pod to it.

I guess a little more cut & paste of parts is needed for the final version.

Pictures at the top.

Overall I am very happy with it and the only thing I think I will change on the next one will be to tweek a few methods used for assemble.

Feedback or comment would be appreciated.
